Who it is for
Foreigners admitted by an educational institution registered in Kyrgyzstan: a university, institute, college or foundation programme. It is based on an admission letter from the institution.
Staying on
After arrival, the student registers at the place of stay and arranges documents for the whole period of study. If studies end or are terminated, the basis for stay lapses: an exit visa (type “L”) or another visa for a new purpose is required.
The student’s spouse and children may receive a foreigner’s family visa (type “FF”).
How to apply
Applications are filed through the Kyrgyz Republic’s official e-visa portal. The form is completed in English, and supporting documents must be in Kyrgyz or Russian or come with a translation into one of them.

Foreigners who are not exempt must register at their place of stay, online at ereg.e-gov.kg or in person. Since 18 September 2026 the length of stay is calculated automatically from border-crossing data. Overstaying leads to a fine, and overstaying the visa-free period can bar your next visa-free entry.
