GG Visa

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions about Kyrgyzstan visas: who needs one, how to get it and what to do after arrival. In plain words.

Do I need a visa

It all depends on your citizenship: some countries enter freely, others need a visa.

Do I need a visa to travel to Kyrgyzstan?

It depends on the country that issued your passport. Citizens of many countries, such as the USA, the UK, EU countries, Japan, South Korea, the UAE, Russia and Kazakhstan, can enter visa-free (you may come without a visa and stay for a set number of days). Everyone else needs a visa in advance, before the trip. Find your country in the visa regimes table: it shows the regime and how many days you may stay.

How many days can I stay in Kyrgyzstan without a visa?

It depends on the country. Most often it is up to 30 days in any 60-day period (that is, within any 60 days in a row you may spend no more than 30 in the country). Citizens of Russia and Kazakhstan get up to 90 days in 180 days from the date of entry, Türkiye up to 90 days in 180, Uzbekistan up to 60 days in 120, and the UAE up to 180 days in 360. The exact term for your country is in the visa regimes table.

What does “simplified regime” in the table mean?

You still need a visa, but it is easier to get: as a rule, without an invitation from an organisation or a person in Kyrgyzstan. For some countries (marked with an asterisk in the table) the simplified procedure applies only if you hold a residence card of the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei, Oman, Bahrain or Saudi Arabia.

Do I need a visa for a connection at Manas airport?

No, as long as you stay in the airport transit area (the zone you wait in for the next flight, without passing passport control). If you need to go into the city, you need a transit visa (TR, up to 3 days) or a tourist visa.

Transit visa
I am already in Kyrgyzstan visa-free. Can I get a tourist visa here?

No. While staying in the country visa-free, you cannot get a tourist visa (TS): it is issued before entry. If you want to stay longer than the visa-free term, contact us before it runs out and we will find a visa that fits the purpose of your stay.

E-visa: filing, timing, payment

Kyrgyzstan visas are issued online through the state e-visa portal.

How is a Kyrgyzstan visa issued?

Online, on the state e-visa portal (evisa.e-gov.kg). The form is filled in English, and documents are attached in Kyrgyz or Russian or with a translation into one of them. You do not need to visit an embassy: the visa arrives by e-mail, and you print it and take it on the trip. We can do all of this for you: check the documents, fill in the form, pay the fee and send you the ready visa.

What documents do I need for a tourist visa?

A scan (a colour photo or copy) of your passport photo page – the passport must be valid for the whole trip, preferably at least 6 months. A colour photo on a white background. Your travel dates and entry point (the airport or border crossing you will enter through). Where you will stay: a hotel booking or an address. On request, your itinerary. Other visa types have their own lists, shown on each visa’s page.

Tourist visa
How long does an e-visa take?

5 working days (weekends and holidays not counted) from the moment the complete set of documents is uploaded. If something is missing or needs fixing, the portal returns the application, and after the fix the 5 working days start again. If time is short, you can order paid expedited review. Apply at least a week before the trip.

Can it be done faster?

Yes, in two ways. We can prepare and file the application within one working day if you have all the documents. Only paid expedited review (charged on top of the visa fee) shortens the review time on the portal. We will tell you what it costs in your case before filing.

How is the visa fee paid?

By bank card on the e-visa portal. The card does not have to be in the applicant’s name: a relative, a company, or we (if you apply through GG Visa) can pay. The fee depends on the visa type and the review speed.

Is the visa fee refunded if I am refused?

No. The state does not refund the fee after a refusal, a mistake in the form, or if the visa goes unused. That is why the form must match your passport exactly (letter for letter), and it is better to buy flights after the visa is approved. We check every document before filing so this does not happen.

What is the difference between visa validity and length of stay?

Validity is the period in which you may enter and be in the country (the “from” and “to” dates on the visa). Length of stay is how many days you may spend in Kyrgyzstan within that period. For example, a visa may be valid for 3 months but allow a stay of only 30 days.

Which visa to choose

The visa type depends on the purpose of the trip. If unsure, message us and we will choose for you.

I am travelling on holiday or to visit friends. Which visa do I need?

A tourist visa (TS), up to 30 days. It covers holidays, mountain trips, travel around the country and visits to friends. You cannot work, do business or study on it. It cannot be extended inside the country: if you need more than 30 days, apply in advance for another visa type that fits your purpose.

Tourist visa
I am going for meetings, a conference or medical treatment. Which visa?

A business visa (B), up to 90 days. You need an invitation from an organisation registered in Kyrgyzstan (a company, clinic or university) or from an international organisation – a private person cannot issue one. You cannot work on a business visa. If a state body or city hall invites you, the Sapar visa (J) for up to 1 year fits.

Business visa
I am visiting relatives. Which visa do I need?

If your relatives are citizens of Kyrgyzstan, you need the Tuugandar relatives visa (RL), up to 90 days. Close relatives usually means parents, children, spouses, brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren – the relationship is proven with documents (for example, a birth certificate). If your relative is a foreigner living here on a visa or residence permit, you need a family visa (FF).

Relatives visa
I am a foreigner living in Kyrgyzstan. How can I bring my family?

Your spouse, children and dependent parents get a family visa (FF), up to 90 days. The key condition: you yourself are in Kyrgyzstan legally (on a visa, Single Permit, residence permit, resident card or kairylman status). They cannot work on this visa. Marriage and birth certificates must be in Kyrgyz or Russian or translated, and foreign documents usually need an apostille.

Family visa
I am coming to study. Which visa do I need?

A study visa (S) for a university, college or foundation programme. It is first issued for up to 90 days, and then the stay is arranged for the whole study period. A student needs a Single Permit for paid work. The student’s family can come on a family visa (FF). For short courses without enrolment, visa-free entry is often enough.

Study visa
Can I work on a visa?

You cannot work on a tourist, business, family, relatives or Sapar visa. To work legally in Kyrgyzstan, a foreigner needs a Single Permit (one document that gives the right to both live and work in the country). Tell us about your situation and we will advise where to start.

Is there a long-term visa for investors?

Yes, the investment visa (I): up to 5 years for investing at least 10 million som in Kyrgyzstan and up to 10 years for at least 20 million som. You can invest money or assets (equipment, machinery, etc.) of the same value. You may enter and leave as often as you like for the whole term. The investor’s family gets a family visa (FF) free of charge for the same term.

Investment visa
I am an ethnic Kyrgyz from another country. Which visa fits me?

The Meken visa (M), up to 1 year, to visit or to return to the homeland. People of any ethnicity born in Kyrgyzstan or the Kirghiz SSR can also get it. If your passport has no “ethnicity” field, origin is proven with other documents: a birth certificate, your parents’ documents or certificates. The visa is a convenient first step to kairylman status (a returnee status that gives the right to live and work in the country).

After arrival: registration and terms

What to do in the country and how not to overstay.

Do I need to register after arrival?

Yes, unless your citizenship is exempt. Registration means recording the address where you live. For most countries it must be done within 5 working days of arrival: online on the ereg.e-gov.kg portal or in person. If you stay at a hotel, the hotel usually does it. If you rent a flat or stay with friends, we will help you arrange it.

What happens if I overstay?

Since 18 September 2026 the length of stay is counted automatically from border-crossing data, so an overstay shows up at once. Overstaying leads to a fine, and if the visa-free term is exceeded, your next visa-free entry may be banned. To leave legally after an overstay, an exit visa (L) for up to 10 days is issued. It is better to contact us before your term runs out.

Exit visa
Can I extend my visa without leaving the country?

Tourist and transit visas cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, contact us before the term ends: depending on the purpose, you can get another visa type or a residence permit without breaking the rules. The Sapar visa (J) can be extended, and a study visa (S) is arranged for the whole study period.

I fell ill and cannot leave in time. What should I do?

There is a free emergency exit visa (E) for up to 10 days for this: it is issued to a foreigner who cannot leave on time because of a serious illness. A relative or another person with a power of attorney can file the documents for the patient. It is important to get the visa before your term of stay ends.

About the GG Visa service

How we work, what it costs and how else we can help.

How much does it cost?

The amount has two parts: the visa fee (paid to the state, depends on the visa type and review speed) and the price of our service. We name the exact total after checking your documents, before you pay – there are no hidden charges. We issue an invoice before filing and a receipt after payment.

What exactly do you do?

We check whether you need a visa and which one. We collect and check documents before filing, fill in the form in English, pay the fee, track the application and send you the ready visa. After arrival we help with registration. If the visa needs an invitation, we tell the host how to prepare it correctly.

Do I need to come to the office?

No. The e-visa is issued online, so you can send documents via WhatsApp or e-mail from any country, and we send the ready visa the same way. If you prefer to come in person, our office is at 154 Moskovskaya St, Bishkek. We answer in Russian, Kyrgyz and English.

Can I arrange a visa and a tour together?

Yes. One package covers the visa, transfers (pick-up and drop-off from the airport to the hotel and along the route), accommodation and a guided route, all on one invoice. The visa documents are prepared by the same team that runs the tour.

Tours in Kyrgyzstan

Destinations include Schengen, the USA, the UK, South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong and the UAE.
